Reflect is a mixed-media installation that uses sound frequencies to create visual patterns on a water surface. Victor’s background as a composer and sound designer formed the basis for his exploration of the physical expressions of sound. This connects to a larger theme in Dissel’s practice: investigating our connection to nature by blending digital technology and natural elements. 

In Reflect, the artist explores a simulatable form of natural patterns - of water, sound and movement - coming together in hypnotic ensembles. The installation consists of several independent speaker plates, each operated by a unique system. This system generates compositions exclusively from simple sound waves, known as sine waves. By assigning unique frequencies and timings to each wave, it produces an endless variety of harmonies that interact with the water's surface.
