DIGITAL ART AND MUSIC FESTIVAL
From May 29th to June 2nd, the Amsterdam FIBER Festival will host a compact, ninth edition. The festival is a five-day meeting place where audiovisual art, cutting-edge electronic music, and urgent conversations are spread across 6 distinctive locations: Orgelpark, de Brakke Grond, BIMHUIS, Door Open Space, De Schietbaan, and Garage Noord. With the theme Outer/Body, FIBER challenges visitors to question the boundaries between bodies, minds, environments, and technology.
Theme
Outer/Body Where does our body begin and end? Is our skin the hard boundary between inside and outside, or have we awakened to an ecological and technological reality where 20th-century thinking in separations is obsolete? Which bodies are welcome and which are not? The upcoming FIBER Festival program places these questions - and many others - at the center of a multidisciplinary art program; from installation art by talented new artists to international leading musicians, DJs, and performers. They present new audiovisual stories that glimpse into an unknown, more-than-human future.
What is FIBER Festival?
FIBER is a Dutch multidisciplinary festival, founded in 2011, that brings together the latest developments in audiovisual art, digital culture, and experimental electronic music. The program offers a wide range, providing not only the experience of innovative art forms but also a substantive exploration of societal themes. How do contemporary artists, DJs, and musicians engage with issues such as climate change, identity, and technological innovation? Special attention is given to presenting emerging talents in various artistic disciplines; a vibrant network of artists, designers, researchers, and developers who strive to introduce consciousness-altering experiences to a broad audience. With its program, FIBER contributes to a better understanding of our rapidly changing modern society.
