CREA Orchestra performs The Rite of Spring, Swan Lake, and Carmen
The CREA Orchestra joins forces with the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts to perform The Rite of Spring with a brand-new choreography!
The CREA Orchestra is the vibrant student orchestra of Stichting CREA, the cultural organization of the University of Amsterdam and the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. The orchestra has been under the inspiring leadership of conductor Bas Pollard for 35 years. Students from the Dance Education program at the Lucia Marthas Institute for Performing Arts (LMIPA) created a new choreography specifically for this concert to one of the most controversial works of the twentieth century. LMIPA trains performing artists and teachers for the national and international fields of Performing Arts, especially for dance, musical theatre, and music theatre. In addition to Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring, excerpts from Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake and Bizet's Carmen will also be performed.
