DIGITAL MEDIA & KINETIC INSTALLATION
Our short-term residency programme is an artist development initiative providing a space for experimentation for emerging artists, with a special focus on site-specific artworks and performances.
For the upcoming showcase happening at Door Open Space, we have invited Aurélia Noudelmann - an artist and researcher working on means of archiving, especially within Lgbtqia+ representations. Her work explores the circulation of memory between the mind, spaces, and objects. She extends this vocabulary through immersive installations and collaborative workshops.
For 2 consecutive days, Noudelmann will present her most recent installation work 'At a rate of knots'.
A creature-like kinetic sculpture continuously knots and unknots materials while a video dives into a nonlinear exploration of metamorphosis. Each speed, break and turn of the machine is programmed in intimate relation to the video: its movements refect data collected from the speech-rhythm of the actors. At a rate of knots attempts to use storytelling as a strategy to approach constructions of memory and the way we share them. Within this recollection, imaginaries and lived experiences inform each other.
